Did Automatic Core Upgrade Break WordPress?
WordPress is wonderful. Robust and versatile options and flexibility. The Automatic Update feature is quick and usually seamless. But sometimes it breaks.
Although not an often occurrence, when it does happen, we tend to freak out.
I’ve come across this problem on some hosting providers (such as 1and1 and GoDaddy), but, fortunately, it’s been a pretty easy fix.
It’s usually fixed in one simple step, but sometimes two. The first thing to do is to add the line below to your .htaccess file at the root of your WP installation.
If that doesn’t work, but I doubt it, you can also try deleting the “upgrade” folder in /wp-content. Try updating WordPress automatically again.
Once you do those steps, you should be all right. If not, if you still have trouble, let me know. Drop me a line (either in the comments or via email).
Cheers!
