Hey! Sorry for the delay. If you’re still looking for a solution, it seems that chown is no longer allowed in High Sierra (when I wrote this piece originally I wasn’t using High Sierra). So this seems to be the fix:
Thanks, i’ve beeen fighting with this issues for 2 days and now it’s finally working as it should.
I’d just like to add something though. in my case, it was still giving off the error after chmodding the live folder. By then of course i know it was a permission issue but i didn’t know as to where the issue lide after that stem.
After a bit of digging i noticed the live folder was a link to archive. so in the end i had to run these two commands for the issue to go away:
Are you using a Mailchimp plugin for WordPress? Or did you copy and paste the code from the MailChimp form?
Either way, the call to the script will be where the MailChimp form is displayed on the page. If you’re having trouble finding it, right-click and do an Inspect Element on the MailChimp form and look for the call to the script.
Excellent, Mac!
Also I recently learned about Jobscan. You can copy and paste your resume in one slot and then the job description in another. Then the website tells you how well your resume matches the position AND makes suggestions on how to change wording and key words to stand out to employers.
Using the Boot Menu option seems to have done the trick for me. I tried doing PRAM and SMC resets before I came across your article but nothing seemed to work – I thought all was lost. Thank you for sharing this tip. Sounds like this issue doesn’t always stay fixed, but I’ve got my fingers crossed.
Hi, is there any chance that you can share the code/settings that you used? A client has his website built using ACF to display IG feed but it doesn’t work anymore in the last few days and I couldn’t make it work.
Hey Dion! I just created a test page on my site — https://macariojames.com/blog/acf-testing/ — with screenshots of my settings and the code snippet I used for ACF. Note, I use ACF Pro. Also, if you’d like, shoot me an email or comment here and I can take a look at the site if you send me a link to see what’s up.
It’s still not working on Mojave. I have tried everything. And yes I have tried sudo chown -R $(whoami) $(brew –prefix)/* nothing is working I still can’t make local writable and i cant update brew ……

Here is a video that shows you how to do this. Also, I noticed that the cable looked worn, like it was rubbing the bottom of the computer cover. After unconnecting and reseating the cable, I place a piece of black electrical tape on the cable and on the inside cover of the keyboard. My keyboard and trackpad are now working fine. Good luck.
I found this article very useful.
I was wondering if you could possibly explain this procedure a bit easier, as I am just a beginer in this era and have no idea how to do that.
Maybe add some picture, and more explanation!
Hey Javad. I just updated the post with some extra details. I hope it’s less confusing now. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for reaching out.
I could manage to upload the .js file to the server and make the change in the script.
The last question is where should I supply the CCS file? Should I upload it also to the server? to which address?
I am Newbee in the WordPress world without any coding knowledge.
Hey! Yeah, you’ll want to upload the CSS to your server. Preferably in your themes/yourtheme/css folder. Or even somewhere like yourdomain.com/assets/css/mailchimp.css file …
I also faced this error and I thought that the problem was in a plugin. Now, I understand that my thoughts were wrong about it. Anyway, thank you for this explanation.
I don’t use WordPress, but I did need this same file for my MailChimp integration. If you want to make this file even better, you can use js-beautify or something like it to expand the minimized version, then completely remove the super OLD jQuery 1.9 library that makes up the first 3000 lines or so if your site already loads jQuery, like mine and most of WordPress. Then you can update their super old jQuery plugins as well by cutting them out and replacing them, and finally re-compact it using terser or the tool mentioned in this article. Or you can just download mine: https://gist.githubusercontent.com/viable-hartman/2abef0fd3368668b1379ca1e80074d83/raw/98c4264816ba46d0ca7e727cc7341e6c0ba55352/mc-validate.min
Hi Macario, thank you for the solution. It did increase my speed but I noticed a 404 in my Developer Tools when loading my page.
VM5045 rocket-loader.min.js:1 is the initiator causing it when invoking local-mc-validate.js. Feel free to send me an email if you need more details on the issue.
I use Linux and NixNote2 as a client of Evernote. However, I am looking for more freedom about the look of the document. The markdown of Joplin seems to have more options.
So, I am migrating from Evernote to Joplin just now. I have imported my notes from Evernote yesterday (I didn’t read your post before 🙁 to get the same hierarchy).
How do you feel about your transition? Are you satisfied nowadays?
A fascinating discussion is definitely worth comment. I do believe that you ought to publish more on this topic, it may not be a taboo matter but generally people don’t talk about such issues. To the next! Kind regards!!
Thanks a bunch, macariojames! This helped me out perfectly. :]
I’m glad I could help out! Figured it would be a good thing if I could save others the hour or so of research. Cheers.
hi! while trying to fix this error i’m getting this other error: chown: /usr/local: Operation not permitted . Any other things I can try?
Hey! Sorry for the delay. If you’re still looking for a solution, it seems that chown is no longer allowed in High Sierra (when I wrote this piece originally I wasn’t using High Sierra). So this seems to be the fix:
sudo chown -R $(whoami) $(brew --prefix)/*

Grande man! Estuve varias horas buscando solución.
This worked like a charm, the official docs are not good enough.
I’m glad it was helpful!
How would this work if I wanted my Firebase app on a subdomain rather than the main domain?
I never got a notification for this comment. I hope 3 months ago you were able to figure out how to get it to work!
Thanks man, it works!! I was trying to figure out how to do this for a couple of days.
I’m glad to help! It was frustrating, and I was sure I wasn’t the only one hitting my head against the wall over it. Cheers.
just perfect… work like a charm
Glad to help!

After a bit of digging i noticed the live folder was a link to archive. so in the end i had to run these two commands for the issue to go away:
sudo chmod 755 /etc/letsencrypt/live
sudo chmod 755 /etc/letsencrypt/archive
And it was fixed. well that was a hectic weekend ^^
Thanks for pointing out that it’s a link to archive, i wouldn’t have thought of that. Saved my day ^^
Thank you so much that is exactly what I was looking for.
I was missing the $wpseo_og
Tambien me funcionoo
Thanks for this. But, one question. Where can I find it? The call to this script. /s3.amazonaws.com/downloads.mailchimp.com/js/mc-validate.js

Oh! Going to try this site out. Thanks for the tip, Sarvi 🙂

Glad it helped! Yeah, the fixes are temporary, unfortunately. Even the hardware fix. I had to replace the cable again about six or seven months later.

I sent you an email with some suggestions. Try uninstalling Homebrew, restarting your Mac and then reinstalling Homebrew.
Also make sure macOS is updated. And see if Xcode also is up to date. Hopefully one or all of these things will help.

I could find the script, but need more help.

Hey Javad
I’ll update the post later today or tomorrow with a better explanation.
Macario

Awesome. Glad it helped you!

Glad to help! Appreciate being able to explain the error in a succinct way.
Does this solution still work?
I’m honestly not too sure. It’s over a year old and I stopped using MailChimp months ago. I’ll have to check on one of my sites and maybe update this.
Hi there — I’d love to see if you have any updates for this. It sounds useful!
good
Still valid info, still very helpful!

Again, thank you for this great resource
hello thanks for the solution
thx really
It worked and the site speed has increased, thank you Macario!
I’ve noticed that it redirects uses to the ‘thank you for subscribing page’ from Mailchimp.
Is it possible to just show “Thank you for subscribing!” message right under or over the form instead instead of opening a new window?
